Selanik Fabric

What Is Selanik Fabric?

Selanik fabric is a type of knitted textile known for its distinct two-sided structure and prominent vertical rib pattern. Its name is believed to originate either from its herringbone-like knitting style or from the Thessaloniki region (Selanik). The front side of the fabric features raised vertical lines, while the back side is smoother with a different texture. This special knitting technique gives the fabric a thick, full-bodied, and warm structure, as well as a visually rich texture.

Features of Selanik Fabric

Two-Sided and Voluminous Texture

The raised ribs on the front and the smooth structure on the back add both richness and density, giving garments a more structured and high-quality appearance.

Excellent Warmth

Thanks to its thick knitting, it provides superior insulation — ideal for winter garments like sweatshirts, cardigans, and jackets.

High Durability

Its dense structure makes it resistant to wear and abrasion, ensuring long-lasting performance.

Elastic and Comfortable

Being a knitted fabric, it offers flexibility and ease of movement, enhancing comfort even in thicker garments.

Versatile Use

Suitable for both casual and elegant wear, it adds sophistication even to minimalist designs.
