What Is Selanik Fabric?

Selanik fabric is a type of knitted textile known for its distinct two-sided structure and prominent vertical rib pattern. Its name is believed to originate either from its herringbone-like knitting style or from the Thessaloniki region (Selanik). The front side of the fabric features raised vertical lines, while the back side is smoother with a different texture. This special knitting technique gives the fabric a thick, full-bodied, and warm structure, as well as a visually rich texture.

    65% Cotton / 35% Polyester Selanik: A balanced blend that combines the natural softness of cotton with the durability and colorfastness of polyester, helping the fabric maintain its form for longer use.

  • 270 gsm – 350 gsm Selanik: Produced in various thicknesses depending on usage. Lightweight versions (around 270 gsm) suit seasonal garments, while heavier ones (up to 350 gsm) are ideal for warm winter outerwear. Non-Stretch Option: Selanik fabrics are typically produced without elastane, giving them a more structured and stable form.
